I'm so tired today that I almost didn't blog. It was a busy busy day and my feet are killing me! I'm going to bed early. Maybe I'll post a big finale blog tomorrow? Let's hope!

Three new additions to our DVD collections. They were on sale at Ingles for 5 dollars each and we definitely couldn't pass that up! What great movies!

My new phone came in today! I like to take advantage of the new-every-two deal at Verizon and upgrade asap. It's so tiny and cute and it holds so much music. I'm so excited about it, it's crazy. :)

Day Twenty Six

I'm a sucker for new foods, especially drinks and teas so when I heard about Yerba Mate on this morning's Today show I had to have it and try it.

From the Today Show Website: Yerba mate is a South American holly that’s brewed as a tea. In such countries as Paraguay and Argentina, it’s as common as coffee is to Westerners. Health claims include stress reduction, appetite control and easing of allergy symptoms, and it’s loaded with antioxidants.A 2004 study conducted at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana found that mate’s high antioxidant content promotes cell survival better than red wine or green tea. Mate also contains caffeine; xanthine alkaloids (including a mood elevator and muscle relaxant found in chocolate); and B vitamins.

Unfortunately, it's only found at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Krogers, Fred Meyers and this small town only has a Wal-mart, Ingles, and Piggly Wiggly. I did end up scouring the aisles of Ingles and came across the bottled Yerba Mate. I haven't tried it yet since I bought it in the afternoon and I didn't want to stay up half the night if it was a really good energy drink. I'm looking forward to trying it tomorrow morning!

When I'm visiting my parents I'll have to remember to stop by Kroger's in their town to see if they stock the teabags.

I always think of my grandpa a lot around this time of year. He's been gone for eight years now and I miss him a lot, still. I am thankful to have had him in my life, if even for a short time.

Day Twenty One

If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for lists. So here's my day: woke up, breakfast, started laundry, read and finished Wonder Boys, drank lots of tea, hugged the kiddo many times, shopped at Walmart, got new much-needed pan, got photos developed at RiteAid, mailed some things, updated the MySpace profile, prepared a new and healthy meal for the family, goodbye to husband for the night, took kiddo to dance class, flipped through the newest issue of Nylon and yesterday's local newspaper, gave kiddo a bath, tea, watched Top Model, put kiddo to bed, more tea, updated my ticket stub notebook, made a necklace with a new charm, loaded the dishwasher and watched Project Runway, folded a load of laundry, update the blog, answer a few emails, make tomorrow's to-do list, go to bed.

Maz has the whole week off of school for Thanksgiving holidays. I'm so excited to sleep in for an entire week. I'm already making a list of things I need to do:
- Reply to all emails.
- Mail some things.
- Make a Christmas list for my parents.
- Stock the pantry better.
- Read, read, read.
- Make some art?
- Take Maz to dance practice, the library, and some place to find a toy cheetah.
- Set up the gift shop at work.
- Laundry!
- Got through my wardrobe and donate what I don't wear. Same for Maz's stuff.
- Beat Paper Mario? :)
- & enjoy Thanksgiving!

Most recent book purchases:

Vegan With a Vengence by Isa Chandra Moskowitz - The Dr. suggested that the hubs go on a low-fat diet so I was looking for good-for-you cookbooks and came across this one. Vegan foods facinate me!

No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July - Seems like a neat read.

Elliot Erwitt's Handbook & About Looking by John Berger - For my photographic studies.

This is Actually My Party by Lauren Child - For the kiddo.

Our small town is lucky enough to have a tiny theatre that showed Across the Universe this weekend. I loved it so much. It was so amazing and beautiful and inspiring!

Maz just got AquaDots for her birthday in August. She loves them and I'm saddened to hear about the new recall. I've filled out the form for new dots, let's hope they come soon.

Day Seven

List of six things that have made me happy lately:

  1. Feeling like making art again - Yes. And it's nice. Now I just have to find the time to make some art.
  2. The holidays - I love buying gifts for people. Also, the holidays mean the end of the year is almost here. I love the first of the new year.
  3. Marking off things on my to-do list - I love getting things done. And I like feeling like I haven't wasted the day.
  4. Paying bills - I really do like paying bills, I like having enough money to pay bills, and it's another thing marked off my to-do list.
  5. Daniel coming home soon - He's been in Wisco for two days so far but it seems so much longer! It'll be great to see him tomorrow night. Let's hope the plane isn't delayed!
  6. Nintendo GameCube - I've been playing Paper Mario & The Thousand Year Door a lot lately and I love it. I didn't think I'd like it when I started playing it but now I'm totally hooked. I love how it's kinda hard but not too hard that you just give up. It's also very pleasing to the eyes. I love bright colors and cute characters. This weekend I'm hosting a Donkey Konga party! Hooray GameCube.

Number Six - Sick Day

Yesterday we took our little girl to the doctor's office to get her checked out. She's had a cough for a few days then developed a congested nose then Sunday night she had an earache. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and sent us on our way.
Today we let her go to school and two hours later the nurse calls and asks me to pick her up. Mazzy threw up in class. Thank goodness we live close-by because I was there in less than ten minutes. Now Maz is sleeping on the couch. Grandma helped out by quickly buying Gatorade, crackers, sherbert, and soup and dropping them off. I do hope she starts feeling better soon. She hasn't been able to keep any liquids down. My poor, poor baby.
On top of all this, my husband left this morning on his first business trip. He'll be gone until Thursday night. I miss him a whole lot.
So today will be spent taking care of the kiddo and making sure she stays hydrated, calling the dr.'s office for advice, keeping things from smelling like vomit, and reading.

What I did today: Dropped off the kiddo at school, came home and fell asleep watching Maury, did laundry, took a shower, put away dishes, visited my boss, then got caught up in a America's Next Top Model Marathon, picked up the kiddo, went out to eat, made a house payment, got a haircut, then update the blog.
Tonight: getting caught up on laundry, then maybe attending a late Halloween party?

National Blog Posting Month

So, I've signed up to do National Blog Posting Month. I've always liked the idea of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) but couldn't make myself write a novel in a month. I tried a few years back and gave up on day three. But blogging...I think I can swing that. Like the site says, all I have to do is post every day in November. Let's see if I can do it.
