My Creative Space Thursday

Two photos of my dining room table, one from last night and the next from this evening. I'm frantically finishing up a project involving 7 block prints of fish. Last night I had to pull proofs with pink and red ink since I am super-low on black ink. Tonight I had the best luck pulling prints with the black ink. The prints turned out beautiful and I can't wait to turn them in tomorrow, a day before the deadline.
I haven't had a chance to work in my new clean space. It's quite cold in the basement nowadays. That's why I'm working at the dinner table.

Monday Lovin'

Things I've been lovin' lately:
  • My new tea mug by The Manicule. It came in the mail today! Mazzy saw that the package was from England and she says, "Maybe it's cute and all England-y!"
  • Reading for pleasure. Surely, it's something I took for granted before I started school. I miss reading novel after novel. I'm currently working on my second book this year. At this rate I won't even read ten books this year.
  • Twitpic and Twitterberry. Take a look at my Twitter and notice all the updates I make during the day. Goodness gracious, am I a Twitter-fiend or what?
  • Elizabeth Fleming's Blog. She's a mama and a photographer. I love her work so much and can relate to many of her posts! I've been meaning to link to her for a long time. I also get the willies from a naked hermit crab.
  • Winter Break. Mazzy doesn't have school this week. That means I can get an extra hour of sleep for a few days. Hurrah!
  • News from long distance relatives. One cousin let me know the gender of her third child and another let me know he's planning on visiting soon. Double Hurrah!
  • Getting film developed. I recently mailed off six rolls of 120 film to PhotoWorks SF. They very quickly processed and scanned the film and mailed it back. I love looking through the photos and picking and choosing what I should keep or trash. I'll be updating my Flickr soon!
  • Catching my little bookworm. Mazzy enjoys reading to herself! I'm always very excited to find her sitting on the couch and reading. She read her first chapter book last week. I'm a very happy bookworm mama.
  • Buying tickets to concert tickets. Okay, so I'm not loving what the tickets cost but I'm stoked to see Ryan Adams for a second time in March and the Brian Jonestown Massacre in April.
Oh! Hey! Happy 200th Blog Entry!

My Creative Space Thursday

My studio! Last week I decided to go through ALL my art stuff and organize everything. EVERYTHING! It's taking forever but I can see the light at the end of this messy tunnel.
School has been busting my butt lately and I'm starting to miss reading for pleasure and working on on my own projects. I keep telling myself that I have to see this through. Getting a degree will help me and my family in the long run.

My Creative Space Thursday

This is how my dining room table looks most of the time. I spend most of my days writing paragraphs and essays, answering discussion questions, and type-type-typing. Here is my only place to get creative nowadays. With everything else going on, I don't have the pleasure to sit down and work on my own stuff. Midterms are next week and I'm terribly nervous!

Here's a photo of the set I finished last week for Nunsense. This was my creative space for almost two weeks. I love being a part of the local art scene!

Bird & Nerd

Bird & Nerd

The kiddo's been out of school for two days thanks to pink eye. She gets this mess all the time, poor thing. For a moment I was worried that she was sicker than we thought, but she's just fine now. And I'm sure she'll be glad to go back to school tomorrow. I have to remember to work on her vocabulary words with her.

The photo above is one of the gems in a recently developed roll of film. I have been thinking about saving up for a digital SLR, but I do love me some Pentax K1000 + my toy cameras. I think I'm the only one in my photography group that still shoots with film. I shot three rolls this weekend of the girls and I'm curious as to how they turned out. This afternoon, I mailed off six rolls to get developed so hopefully I'll have some good shots to show off soon.

Here's to a slow, rambling day. I don't know what to do with myself on days like these. I'm so used to being stressed about a to-do list. It's nice to just sit back with a cup of tea...which I'm about to do.
