Here's the newest addition to our pet family, a wee parakeet. I was told his name is Max, but around here we tend to just call him "The Bird". We also call Princess Peach the Hamster just "The Hamster". The Bird is a darling, but still not very trusting of us yet and will nip at my fingers if my hands get too close. He enjoys millet and fresh fruit and especially loves chirping at the break of dawn.
This weekend was nice and calm. We didn't do much, just a lot of yard work and laundry yesterday. The kiddo is out of school for the summer and I'm looking forward to more sleeping-in mornings.
My current project: A friend wanted me to replicate the images on her grandmother's plates onto a square canvas. You can see here the mess I make when I paint. There's cds, my phone, a stack of index cards, a cup of water to drink and one to swish paintbrushes, palettes, and other random items here and there.
I need some nice flats for the summer and I have my eyes on these pretty shoes from TOMS Shoes. For every pair you buy, TOMS will give a pair to a child in need. How awesome is that?
Anyway, it's been another busy week and I haven't been able to blog like I've wanted. Next week is sure to be just as busy so I'm sneaking in some blog-time at work. The school year is winding down and soon the kiddo will be sporting a wee graduation cap and gown. I'm so proud of her, she was brave and smart all during the school year and had a great time. She's a little over school nowadays, so I hope she'll be excited about the first grade in a few months.
I'm excited about this summer. I already have so many things planned! Such as: painting faces at the library, working on the set for Alice in Wonderland Jr., teaching kids at Art Camp, running a zine workshop, flying to Michigan for a week, and of course, working on photography.
My mom and sister are coming down tonight to spend the weekend at my house. Mom won tickets to tomorrow's Braves game and she bringing all her kids along. We've got a great view and I wonder if we'll catch any fly balls?
Somehow I got it in my head to organize my zine collection. Crazy, huh? I've been logging the titles I have in an Google Speadsheet and catagorizing by type of zine. So far I know I have over 173 zines! I've also been cleaning out the collection and making a to-give-away pile. I've got a plan for them...
My nick name for awhile was "Hong Kong Fawne" because of this t-shirt I wore all the time. I had mad crushes on guys I could never get and I was totally shy, quiet, and weird. I had song lyrics written on my backpack. Frisky the cat wasn't all mine, he was the family cat. Brush pens, water color pencil, watercolor pen, Foray pen in my Moleskine notebook.
